Love the idea of being your own boss but not sure about the rules?
Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Richard Bransen. What do all of these names have in common?
- They all have earned a ton of money and lived in personal success.
- None of them have a college degree.
Success stories like these have caused budding entrepreneurs to question if they even need to attend college. If you're going to be working for yourself, what difference does having a degree make?
A degree can be an opportunity to make it big, because being an entrepreneur is not hard coded into everyone's genes. Beyond having a degree as a backup plan, the knowledge and experience you'll gain in college are invaluable to your professional career and starting out on your own.
If your heart is still set on owning your own business, Brazen Careerist recommends taking courses in these subjects:
- Computer Science
- Graphic Design
- Anything you're actually passionate about.
On one last note - no matter what you decide to major in - do not pass "Go" and do not collect $200 unless you have at least one internship. Internships can be the difference between owning those railroads or paying dues for far too long.
