Playing Frisbee and Disc Golf in College

Disc Golf is Everwhere on a College Campus

What do a statue of a university founder, a liberal arts building and an on-campus coffee shop have in common? They can all be disc golf targets.

That’s right, practically every college campus can and should be used as a disc golf course. It’s done at St. Mary’s University, where students get to throw over streams and historic graveyards. And it’s done at the University of Oregon, where students shoot through skinny, sprawling oak trees.

At many schools a student could literally play their way from class to class, meeting friends and professors and breaking scores along the way.

6 Reasons to Play Disc Golf at College

  1. It's a great way to explore the whole campus
  2. You'll run into friends as you play
  3. A lot of walking = easy-to-do exercise
  4. Disc golf players are some of the friendliest athletes you'll find
  5. There is a HUGE disc golf and ultimate frisbee community you can join post college
  6. All the benefits of being outside: relaxing, healthy, gives you a tan.

Top College Disc Golf Teams

Though there are some students who see the game as more than just something to do before Biochem. Some students at several different colleges compete nationally and are recognized by the Professional Disc Golf Association. They put teams together, perfect their throws and compete against liberal art schools and powerhouse athletic colleges alike. It's a seriously competitive world with seriously talented disc golfing students.
